Blog Journal #8

A new skill I learned from working on the Web Design assignment was using the software Weebly to create a website. I had only ever visited Weebly sites in the past, so it was interesting to learn the process of creating one for myself. I also learned how to embed a Google Calendar into a website. There honestly wasn't a part of the assignment I disliked. In my future career, I will try to have my own class website for students and parents to visit. 

I learned how to add a sticky note and highlight from working with Diigo. I think the application can be helpful as it gives teachers a space to post websites or articles for their students to read. This could be used as a space for optional readings to be posted. With team members, it makes it easier for each person to find articles, annotate what's important to the topic, and post it to the space so that everybody's on the same page. 

One site that could be used to stay informed of technology trends in education is EdTech Magazine. EdTech Magazine keeps teachers up to date on current technology trends. It also alerts them to emerging technology and trends. I believe it could provide teachers with a great Resource to stay informed.

    I really liked browsing your website, I think you did a great job in outlining and detailing content on your page for students and parents alike. The overall design looks great I really enjoyed your use of graphics throughout the website this made it so much more relatable and welcoming Good Job!

    Hi! I really liked your website. I liked that there wasn't too much information on any one page. Sometimes too much content all in one place can be overwhelming and that was not the case here. Great job!

    Hello! Overall, I think your website follows the C.R.A.P. guidelines very well! While I may recommend a bit more color and contrast, your website offers enough contrast for the writing to be very nice and visible which I really like! Your website also followed repetition very well, especially since you used similar headings for each page which was very nice! You also aligned all of your writing and resources very well, along with creating appropriate grouping for resources and information which makes for good proximity. You did a great job on it!

If somebody has a copyright, it means that their intellectual work is protected, and they have sole rights for distribution and use. If somebody wants to use copyrighted work, they must give attribution to the owner. Fair use sets the laws for using copyrighted work. Blog Journal #6

My initial experience with Diigo, that is setting up the account and joining the class blog, was straight-forward enough. However, the appearance of the software is somewhat confusing for me. It just feels like there's a lot going on, and it's hard to focus on one thing. In terms of creating a post, the instructions seem relatively easy. I have yet to complete my portfolio items, but looking at the instructions, it should be no problem. Overall, I liked the setup, but am not a huge fan of the organization of it. When I first heard about the blogging requirement for this class, I figured it would be about our lives. I was not expecting it to be as much about technology as it is. The instructions have been straightforward, and the site to produce the blogs has been easy to follow. Blog Journal #2

The primary document software in Elementary School was MS Word--we would make sure to have our little flash drives whenever we went to the library so we could save our work. In middle and high school, there was a shift to Google Drive, and MS Word was never used. To this day, I only use MS Word if I have to. I prefer Google Drive because of formatting differences, as well as the nearly-automatic saving of documents. Plus, if I damage my computer, I can still access essays or homework from my phone through Google Drive.  ISTE Standards help teachers empower students to become leaners, and should be used in the classroom. The ISTE Standard that is most meaningful to me is Collaborator. This standard says that educators will take time to be in collaboration with their learners and coworkers.
